How to Update the Lexus Navigation System

Each year, around late October, the Lexus Navigation software update goes on sale at various dealerships, including Lexus of Tulsa. When it comes time to travel around the holidays, you may be wondering if it's worth updating the navigation system and how the update works. Well, have no fear, because we're here to make it easy for you.

How it Works

Updating the navigation system in your Lexus is important because it keeps you up to date with any recent changes to roads, towns, directions and points of interest. Installing the update is simple, all you need to do is follow these instructions:

  • For the update, you'll be given a Micro SD card, so look for the SD card slot below the audio control panel on your Lexus.
  • Once you've found the slot, eject the previous SD card simply by pressing on the card itself (NOTE: make sure your car is completely turned off before changing out the cards).
  • On your computer or tablet, sign in to the Lexus Customer Portal, then select "Additional Services."
  • From the Additional Services menu, click on the button that says "Get the latest map updates for your navigation unit."
  • To find the latest map updates, go to the Map Updates website, select the button marked "Get a Map,' enter in the vehicle model and your current navigation system.
  • From here, you'll be asked to enter in the Part Number, which can be found on the SD card. Once you've entered in the SD card number, click "Next" to add the latest update to your cart.
  • Enter in your contact info, shipping and billing information, and complete the payment process using your credit card, debit card or PayPal.
  • After you've completed this process, an updated SD card will be sent to you, all you have to do is plug in the new card where the old card was (again, make sure your Lexus is completely switched off).

If you have any questions or need any additional help with the update, don't hesitate to call our tech support staff here at Lexus of Tulsa, they can be reached at (918) 665-3987.
